ARTIST´S FROM ED BANGER

JUSTICE

One of the more connected jungle producers, and a respected name in the field of Bukem-style polished drum'n'bass, Justice (Tony Bowes) co-owns the Modern Urban Jazz label and records as Icons with Blame. His own productions -- as Justice, Justice & Tertius, and Glider-State -- have appeared on Basement, Creative Wax, Echo Drop, and Recordings of Substance.

Raised in Luton, Justice began producing at the age of 17 with newfound friend Conrad Shafie (aka Blame). The two met while studying media at college in Dunstable, and went into the studio in 1991 to try their hand at producing hip-hop tracks. Instead, they emerged with "Death Row," one of the earliest examples of hardcore breakbeat. While the rave scene progressed into self-parodic fluff, Blame and Justice continued producing, both together and on their own. Pushed into new directions by the early influence of LTJ Bukem's "Music," the duo formed Modern Urban Jazz Records. Justice compiled and mixed a Modern Urban Jazz compilation, and united with Blame as Icons for the stellar 1996 LP Emotions with Intellect. His debut album as a solo act, Viewpoints, was released in 1998. Hears to the Future and Modern Electro followed two years later. In 2006, Waters of Nazareth, which contained three versions of the title track, as well as two other songs, came out. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide.

SEBASTIAN

Pedro Winter, ex-cap wearer and head of Ed Banger Records was once swimming in a demo ocean. His label, then brand new and already hip was dragging hundreds of thousands Cds, EPs, even cassettes and singing telephone messages, forcing Pedro to move to a 10.000 m2 office. Pedro, "fin connaisseur" when it comes to talent and style, picked up a demo labelled SebastiAn. He had already met the man behind it when SebastiAn was producing rap songs. The cd featured tracks of claustrophobic yet playful electro from a mysterious 23 year old Parisian. The prodigy got signed in a minute and 3 tracks were picked for the EP 'Smoking Kills', published in 2004. From the raw cut up Aphex Twin-esque 'Smoking Kills' to 'Shoot' (Bang! nothing to add), and the less fuzzy / more bleepy 'Dolami', the EP got very popular on every fresh dancefloor. The record was spun by best taste disc-jockeys around the world such as Erol Alkan and others. Some entertainers even bought it. Whereas those guys seldom pays a record. Come on. People went crazy at parties, some broke their knee caps while dancing and all others came home exhausted. Following the success of 'Smoking Kills', SebastiAn was asked to remix Annie's "Happy Without You", Benjamin Theve's "Texas" or Swedish electro clashers Revl9n's "Walking Machine", even Kelis "Bossy" and became Daft Punk's favourite remixer after his work on his "Human after all" mix every time flipping the tune upside down and cigarette-burning the rhythms. The limited split 7' 'H.A.L.' came out in 2005, shared with Krazy Baldhead's 'Time.Period', with a sleeve to be remembered. Another spanking session for friends only. The beatmaker produces tracks all day and night, wait for his album(s) to feature cut-up techniques, funk detonations and break spasms. For SebastiAn kills.

Flat Eric later appeared in the music video for "Flat Beat".After "Flat Beat", Oizo released his first album in 1999, Analog Worms Attack, featuring a single of the same name.In 2005, Oizo released his second album entitled Moustache (Half a Scissor).2006 and 2007 saw Oizo produce remixes for Kavinsky, Jamelia, Cassius, Scissor Sisters and, most recently, Calvin Harris.Dupieux's first feature film, Steak was released in France on June 20th, 2007.Mr. Oizo's latest EP is called Transexual and was released on Ed Banger Records. The EP features a re-working of the 1979 disco track "Do It At The Disco" by Gary's Gang. The track appeared on Oizo's MySpace page in 2006 under the title Patrick122.

The track was an unspoken success in clubs worldwide. The music video for the single won the award for best video at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006. Labelmate Uffie also enjoyed a rise in fame in late 2006 when her single, "Pop the Glock", gained international radio play.
